The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a peer-led initiative that aims to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and promote healthy behaviors among young people.This club is a youth led movement supported by National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO)and Punjab state AIDS control society(PSACS). It aims to spread awareness about HIV /AIDS, promotes voluntary blood donations and encourages a healthy, responsible lifestyle among students.
Objectives
1. Raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and its prevention.
2. Provide a platform for peer education and support.
3. Encourage voluntary counseling and testing (VCT).
Activities
1. Peer education and outreach programs.
2. Workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
3. Distribution of educational materials.
4. Support groups for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Benefits
1. Increased awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS.
2. Improved safe sex practices and reduced risk behaviors.
3. Enhanced peer support and counseling.
4. Reduced stigma and discrimination.
Target Group
1. Young people (15-24 years old).
2. College and university students.
Activities done during this year:
1. HIV/ AIDS awareness and testing awareness lecture by Gaganjot Kaur from Civil Hospital Samana.
2. Conducted two blood donation camps in the month of October 2024 and February 2025.
3. Poster making and slogan writing competitions held on the occasion of World AIDS Day.4. College RRC teams got first, second and third positions in various competitions held under “Yuva Utsav Bharat 2047”.
5. 11 student of Red Ribbon club represented Punjab state under “Exposure Visit To Capital State”.
6. Under the guidance of Red Ribbon Club nodel officer Dr. Harkirtan Kaur students celebrated National Youth Day.
