🚫 Anti-Ragging Cell

The Anti-Ragging Cell at Public College Samana is committed to preventing and addressing incidents of ragging on campus. Ragging is a serious issue that can have a long-lasting impact on students’ emotional and mental well-being. The Anti-Ragging Cell ensures that all students, particularly freshers, feel safe, respected, and comfortable as they begin their academic journey. The cell works proactively to create an atmosphere of camaraderie, mutual respect, and a sense of security, free from any form of harassment, including ragging.

🎯 Objectives of the Anti-Ragging Cell

  • To prevent ragging in any form, either physical or psychological, and create awareness about the serious consequences of ragging.

  • To ensure strict implementation of anti-ragging laws and regulations on campus.

  • To provide a safe space for students to report any incidents of ragging, where complaints will be handled with confidentiality and sensitivity.

  • To create a healthy and respectful environment where students can interact with one another without fear, anxiety, or discomfort.

  • To educate students, especially newcomers, about the adverse effects of ragging, both on the victim and the perpetrator.

  • To promote peer support among senior and junior students, fostering positive relationships and guidance.

🛠️ Key Activities and Initiatives

  1. Awareness Campaigns

    • The Anti-Ragging Cell organizes awareness programs to educate students about the detrimental effects of ragging and the legal implications of engaging in such activities. These programs include seminars, posters, and interactive sessions where students can discuss the topic openly.

  2. Orientation and Counseling

    • Freshers are given an orientation session at the start of each academic year, where they are made aware of the anti-ragging policies and are informed about the importance of mutual respect and healthy relationships. Counseling is also provided to students to help them overcome the fear or anxiety caused by ragging.

  3. Complaint Redressal System

    • The Anti-Ragging Cell operates a grievance redressal mechanism where students can anonymously report any instances of ragging. The complaints are taken seriously, and immediate action is taken to ensure the safety and security of the victims.

  4. Monitoring and Vigilance

    • The cell ensures regular vigilance on campus, especially in areas that are less crowded, such as hostels and secluded spots, where ragging is more likely to occur. Faculty members and student representatives play an important role in monitoring such activities and preventing any incidents.

  5. Peer Mentoring and Senior-Junior Interaction

    • The Anti-Ragging Cell encourages positive relationships between senior and junior students. Senior students are involved in mentoring and guiding their juniors, providing them with advice on academics and personal matters, thus fostering a sense of belonging and support without the intimidation of ragging.

  6. Strict Action Against Ragging

    • The college follows a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. If any student is found guilty of ragging, strict disciplinary action is taken, as per the guidelines laid down by the UGC (University Grants Commission) and the Supreme Court of India. This can include suspension, expulsion, or legal action.

  7. Collaboration with Authorities

    • The Anti-Ragging Cell collaborates with local authorities and law enforcement agencies to ensure that any complaints that require external intervention are handled swiftly and appropriately.

💡 Join Hands Against Ragging

The Anti-Ragging Cell invites all students to participate in making the campus a ragging-free zone. The responsibility to create a supportive and respectful environment lies with each member of the college community. By working together, we can ensure that every student feels safe, respected, and welcomed.
